Victoria: A response to Barbara's question on clients feeling pain during a session. Barbara, it is quite common for my clients to feel extreme pressure or pain during a session. The area of pain is often times the same area of known illness. I tell my clients that it is the healing energy working aggressively, as this is my impression. The clients are directed to let me know if they would like for me to move to a different area, or move my hands further away from them. More often than not, a client relaxes into the discomfort, allowing the Reiki to work, once they understand that the discomfort is not a sign of danger.

Barbara: Barbara, I was Reikied by the same master at a retreat 4 years running. During the fourth time, she received a vision. She had never experienced one before, however I have them a lot. I have noticed sometimes that when I Reiki myself that there can be a flair up of the pain, etc. in a region before it is healed. I call it "acute-ing." While I was Reiki-ing away a mass that was slowly strangling my spinal cord, the pain never stopped. I knew I was healing, but I hated the acute-ing phase where I was going back from chronic to acute to gone. Others have expressed that sometimes there is more pain first, then comes the relief. The woman you worked on may need to have a doctor check her out. She could have a hidden, undiscovered heart condition that she needs to address. That is how I knew my liver was having a problem. The specialist looked rather strangely at me when I told him I had seen my liver in a vision, but he recovered nicely and I am now fine.

Justin: For the longest time I have had a hard time Reikiing people's heads. I have no idea why but I usually just let other people do the head while i did the body portion. Well one time when i was reikiing myself before i went to sleep i was doing my head and i felt like a rock was being dragged through my head! It was severely discomforting but then I just decided to go with it. Eventually I was trying to get more and more of this weird feeling and eventually if started to feel better and like "normal" Reiki. And many time when I Reiki a recent injury the pain gets worse before it gets better. My cousin who doesn't do Reiki but was born a healer also said that happens. So maybe you can encourage you patient to accept the pain and find the source. But if it gets to extreme definitely don't push it!

Prashant: Dear Barbara, such situations and things do happen during a Reiki treatment because Reiki works at the causal level. It in its nature; to bring out the hidden thoughts during the healing process. Let all such things get healed. Do not fear or have any hesitation while dealing with such things. You have done a deep healing that day and it happened because your client was very open throughout the healing. The pain in her heart and her head was because of the release of all lesser patterns this person had collected and stored for many years. Experiencing pain is just telling that Reiki is working. Now, in this case, you have to work at her mental level for some more days till she stops having such feelings and visions. Ask her if she does get such similar things in her dreams. Try to analyze her pattern and help her out with it. I think she is too open to Reiki and she should co-operate you in this case. There is a lot of hazy thoughts and lesser pattern going through her life or might be she had a very bad experience in her past. Just request Reiki to do the needful. Ask for the wellbeing and healing of your client. Reiki has worked wonders. Be very positive with it and have belief in yourself and the energy. All the best. Go ahead. May Reiki guide you in this path. So be it.
