In last week's newsletter, Karen sent in a review of David Ashworth's book, "Dancing with the Devil as You Channel in the Light." David came across the article and sent in some more info on the background of his book. Given the fact I was less than graceful today and now have my right foot in an air splint (no break, just an evil sprain) and really need to get it propped on some pillows, I decided to use his letter for this week's column. Hope everyone has a wonderful week! //////////////////////////////// I had a number of requests for the book following a recommendation by a lady called Karen in your newsletter. It took me a few emails to find out about your site and I must congratulate your forum of very informed light workers. I also wanted to thank Karen through these pages for her very genuine recommendation. This book was a long time in the making. The forces opposing this information tried very hard to crash the project at every opportunity. After being turned down by over 20 publishers, many of whom I don't think even opened the envelope past seeing the word Reiki, and thinking to themselves "Oh it's another book about Reiki". However, I was always driven beyond belief in the assembly of this work and decided I would publish it myself. At the eleventh hour a publisher did come out of the woodwork, but I still ended up funding the whole project to get what I wanted. I was absolutely convinced about every aspect of the book, including the title, which many thought would put people off, me included, but I stuck with the feeling in my heart against all other advice. This book is not just about Reiki, but about many aspects of energy work. It is hard hitting and pulls no punches. There are many aspects of the healing world which need attention and this book addresses some of them. It calls a spade a spade. I thought from day one, that it would be received with difficulty, because it challenges many aspects of light work and the ethics and lack of knowledge behind so many of the practitioners, while accepting that many of them are working from their own perspective of truth. I was ready for the flack. I ordered my Kevlar Second Chance. However, to date, the flack hasn't come. Only the most amazing responses and support for the work. On a daily basis we get calls to thank us. Following on from the difficulty of finding a publisher, I then found that the book distributors wouldn't touch it either, In fact our own publisher gave me negative comments every time I spoke to him. So I mailed out about 250 people on my database and the first copies went out. Since that day, word of mouth has moved this book all over the planet and although we are not talking thousands, we are talking hundreds, and everyday we get calls or emails asking where to get the book. Many people have come back and bought copies for their friends as presents. So as far as we're concerned, regardless of the title, which I still stand by, and all the forces which tried to stop this book, the light and the truth are winning. I never doubted that it would find the right people and so far it has. Denise, my partner and I were very touched when someone in the US sent us Karen's review and asked how to order the book. The review was truly very warm and personal and indeed, as she says, she does not know us. I wanted to send this message, not to sell more books, because they will sell anyway, but to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to pass on the word, and also give you a little insight in how this book came about against all the odds. Thank you for your generosity of time in sharing with us. Jean - for David on arthritis: My arthritic pain, especially in the knees, disappeared for good about 4 years ago when I read that many people who are diagnosed with osteoarthritis, are in fact gluten intolerant. I had nothing to lose but the pain. For one week, I did not eat anything containing wheat, oats, barley or rye. The result was astounding! After only 3 days, the pain was gone. As the months passed, I learned how to cook and bake with non-gluten flours, and I had to give up some favorite foods. Now after 4 years, I sometimes can get away with an occasional serving of gluten, perhaps once every two weeks. My knees tell me if I've overdone it! For me, no-gluten equals no-pain! Give it a try for a week! You may notice a difference. Comments? Suggestions? Complaints? They don't have to be about the newsletter, just about Reiki or other healing topics. Be heard! Send them in! teri@reikione.com Angela: I'm a very big fan of your newsletter. I has kept me in touch with Reiki when I have been unable to stay in touch with my RMT and share group. It keeps the flame burning, no matter how small. I am level 1 and only practice Reiki on myself. I have tried to share my energy but no one around me is interested and my partner feels physically uncomfortable and 'energy tingly' when I give him Reiki.... but that is another issue. I understand that's what I'm attracting for the moment. I would like some feedback from anyone who feels the need to respond to my situation. I have found after years of personal growth work that I'm constantly struggling for balance. I get to a point where I am incorporating the practices I know are beneficial to my health and well-being into my life and everything is going well and then slowly I seem to just let things slide until they are back to unpleasant and unproductive again. Then I have to start to climb the ladder all over again. It feels like there is a part of me that shuns the light and does it's best to lead me away from that path. I'm sick of starting from the bottom time and time again when I've achieved so much and worked so hard. At first I thought perhaps it was just that I hadn't found the right 'technique' or 'discipline' but now I think it's something I need to heal within myself. Even as things have deteriorated this time I have continued my personal Reiki practice even though I can't really 'feel' the energy anymore. What am I missing? I have and do go through things very similar to what you explain. I think first that we have to remember compassion for ourselves, to use our healing communities wisely (when I am in that space I don't always know what's best for me), and to just ride through those moments one hour at a time. Sometimes I believe really that we go through so much light growth that the less attractive issues come up so they too can grow and be balanced. I also believe that sometimes during growth and energy shifts that the body has to catch up with the spirit and that may take a bit of time. Last week's question came from Julie: When I received my Reiki I attunement - the Reiki Master who gave the attunement, had a very clear vision of me as a "Warrior Princess" (he said that this was the first time he ever had a vision when giving an attunement - he also had a vision of each of the other students in our group, although each was a different vision). I have spoken to a few other people I know who practice Reiki, 3 of them have been told by either patients or friend, that they have seen/had a vision of a Warrior standing beside them during a treatment. Each of these people is also drawn to Celtic mythology. We were wondering whether we had a connection to Celtic healers, and whether anyone else has experience this type of vision when giving or receiving Reiki? Rosemary: Currently, I'm a 4th level RMT, however, even at Reiki level 1, I was able to "see or know" past lives of the person I was working on. I have seen in my mind's eye the presence of a monk-like man who was there for another reiki teacher I was working with (who was NOT receiving the treatment). Many of the people I work with have experienced similar situations while working. I was recently drawn to "Celtic" things, and it does apply to one past live I've had. I am more drawn to Native American things. Since our soul is eternal, I think many people are awakening now. I've had many people with blocked energies( emotional blocks and so on) coming from deaths related to the Holy Wars, knighthood, etc.I think due to anger at God ;fighting for the church and dying- at true paradox. I also channel angels and give classes on how to do this. So, while working I also receive information from the angelic realm. I am also clairsentient needed to learn early on to ground myself and send white light though my body so I would not "hold" anyone's ailments past the session, as it was quite uncomfortable until I released those energies. At times, a person with an "attachment" (entity) also needed to be released. At this point, I understand how to protect myself and teach others how to ground energies and protect well before a treatment is given. Next week's question: comes from Kathy: I had my 2nd Reiki One attunement and the next couple days I felt completely outside of myself. I found myself experiencing many emotional ups and downs with no real explanation. I was feeling extremely insecure and had alot of issues arise within that had been somewhat ignored in the past. I actually went as far as addressing the issues to those involved. My physical outcome was quite illish feeling as well. Could not concentrate and felt very irritable. Could this be in relation to my attunement? He spit on his hands and rubbed them together. He straightened his cap and said once more, "I'm the greatest batter in the world!" Again he tossed the ball up in the air and swung at it. He missed. "Strike Three!" "Wow!" he exclaimed. "I'm the greatest pitcher in the world, too!"
