~~Reflection~~
John F. Kennedy. I was three years old and I can still
see my mother, father, and two brothers (both much
older than me), huddled in front of the black and
white television set. Everyone was upset and crying,
even the people on the television were crying, but I wasn't.
I wanted to understand, but it was beyond my capacity for
understanding at the point in time. So I did what any
three-year-old might do, I ran and stood in front of the
television, blocking their view. After all, they were
supposed to be focused on me, the baby and only
girl-child in the family. As you can imagine, what I
thought was my "loving family" all started yelling and
screaming at me to get out of the way. My one brother
even grabbed my arm and yanked me down into a
sitting position. Well, as you can imagine, I started crying
then too, and at once felt as if I now belonged to the "group."
Even though my sadness wasn't for the same reason as
theirs, we were now one in our misery.
a body, existing in other dimensions unseen by the human
eye, we studied and learned and grew in our spirituality.
As we watched those around us incarnate into human form,
our spirits grew restless for contact with those who had
moved on to the "other side." Though intellectually we
knew we'd be together again, that a human life span is
but a blink of an eye in the relativity of the universe, we
longed to be a part of that group who had traveled onward
in their evolution.

when we became human, how we could better the condition
of the world, how we could improve our soul in its
continual quest for the source of all life, for that in itself is
our primary purpose - to reunite with the Universe.

when we were but sparks of energy. In those sparks traveled
the essence of life. Coming together with other essences,
souls were conceived and born and the Universe gave up
her children so they could grow and experience the joys
of living. She sent us to the school we call life and expects
nothing more in return than we remember our true nature and
act accordingly - as beings of pure love.

Adams-I have not heard of anything like this, but I
sure would like her to do me! A story of comfort
sounds like a wonderful idea. Perhaps she could
write more about how she sets it up, special
meditations, etc. Would really like to know more!
believe that the more 'qualifications' you have; ie..
degrees, titles, this 'program' and that lineage; the
more powerful the Reiki. In the area I live in, I have
found exactly what you have encountered--and
individuals are just in awe of this title and the other,
forgetting just how pure and simple Reiki really is.
Reiki is pure energy. It has nothing to do with titles,
degrees, or status outside of itself. We all know
this yet as individuals we are set up by our
societies and environments that the more initials
behind our names the more qualified we are.
This is extremely sad. What has helped me intensely
is the examination of the Reiki Precepts and their
place in my life as a Reiki Master. When I am
criticized, and some are extremely harsh; I return
to the precepts--just for today, do not anger, do not
worry; and I find center quickly and rest in that
energy that lay deep within. I forgive, as difficult
as it may be; and continue to practice with dignity
and in my truth. In the long run, and it always
occurs Heidi; those who have criticized eventually
fall away or come to realize that Reiki is perfect
in and of itself. Stay within your truth, Heidi. Do
not worry about the RN, PhD, LMT, LHT, or this
group or that group initial behind the name. If you
are a practitioner or Master--no matter what type
or lineage, you hold within you the pure form of
Reiki. It will speak for itself. It always has. It
always will.
about anyone else but when I read the responses to
the last weeks question I wondered if the focus was
on the people looking for Masters with credentials
or the Masters that include their list of credentials
with their names. I myself am a LPN... worked
pretty hard as a single mother to get there so I am
very proud to have LPN after my name, and when
I make it through massage school (Lord willing) I
will be proud to display the title of LMT after my
name as well. As much as we in the Reiki community
understand that being a Master/Teacher qualifies us to
guide and teach, the lay community may not. It often
will make someone feel better to know that their Reiki
Master/Teacher is a counselor or a nurse because
that is something that they can identify with. Reiki
to many people is a nebulous invocation of magic
and ritual without quantifiable "proof" so to speak.
In this world of quick fixes and "see to believe"
mentality! often times energy healing modalities are
taking a backseat or looked down upon because the
medical community sees it as so much trivial nonsense.
This is imparted to the societal community and
judgments are made. I think fear of charlatans and
judgment against the seeker may be the reason that
some people search for Masters with credentials.
So that when that magic does happen for them and
they want to tell their friends about it isn't "just"
Reiki but an educated credentialed person working
with them. Is this right... well definitely not fair but
there are just as many people out there looking for
Reiki Masters, any Reiki Master so that they can be
opened to this beautiful world and they don't care
about credentials..... but in my opinion heck no I think
it stinks! Reiki Masters have to face sometimes a more
grueling self-growth to become a Master than any
nurse or doctor may ever. Then heaping on past lives
and our own personal judgments well there you have
it... it's a tough road and a Master has earned their
"Credential" as well.... perhaps someday things will
swing into balance and RMT will become another
credential that any lay person will recognize and
flock to. Until then I think we will be faced with
the judgments and nay sayers of the world, proving
ourselves again and again. I am a nurse though and
I probably benefit in my dealings with people because
of it.

mentioned I read about healing attunements. I am not
sure what this meant, but I assume that the practitioner
places symbols into the clients chakras. If so, I
wondered which chakras, and if the procedure is the
same as for attunements. Incidentally, I tried this on
my Dad, placing symbols into the crown, third eye,
heart and the hands. His health improved overnight.
And although I encouraged self treatments (remember,
this was a family member, not a client), I little doubt
that this will happen . My thought is that the hands
should be omitted. Any experiences, information,
instruction or comments would be welcomed.
was taught to do a healing attunement when I was
given my Master/Teacher Attunement class. It
is given much the same way you give any other
attunement. You stand behind the client/student
and go through the same motions to begin giving
the attunement except you leave their hands at their
hearts and draw each of the symbols one at a time
above the head at the back and bring them down
into the back of the heart and at the front you draw
the symbols one by one above the head and bring
each down to the solar plexus. Then you end the
attunement as you would any other. I use it quite
often on myself and it is a very powerful attunement
to be given as a distant healing. I also use it at the
beginning of each one of the healing sessions that
I give to my clients. It open and clears and really
gets a strong connection to continue with the session.
question of Healing Attunements. I was taught by
my teacher that a Healing Attunement is the use of
attunement energy without truly "turning on" the
Reiki for the individual. Apparently some people
don't want to "do" the Reiki themselves but the
Attunement energy is very powerful. I learned
through a teacher from the International Center for
Reiki Training and the healing attunement is taught
in the master class that they offer... I also believe it
is printed in William Rand's Reiki Three Manual
available from his site it is located on pg. 10 of
this manual. I myself have used the healing attunement
and when I was done my client said she thought she
might fall off her chair. She had a very powerful
clearing and healing session that night. So it is
something that I would use again and again
especially before surgeries and in sickness.

many years ago from a person who I believe had
either 4th or 5th level in the Radiance Technique.
I understood this attunement to be only for a 24
hour duration period. That anyone could receive
a healing attunement, but that this would not give
them the ability to do Reiki. I am assuming (since
I am not a Reiki Master Teacher) that these
attunements don't include the final step in the
attunement process which seals the symbols /
energy into the chakras / energy body. (I am
speaking of the use of the RAKU down the spine,
if I understand the process of the attunement
process correctly.) I have asked 2 other Reiki
Master Teachers if they do Healing Attunements
and they each said that they didn't know of this
attunement technique. Is this yet another expansion
on the Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho which like a
lot of other techniques have manifested within the
last 15 years? I would like to know more on this
topic. Blessings to everyone.
