~~Reflection~~ by Teri Moore, editor & RMT

A thought for the coming week:
Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is
its twin brother. Kahlil Gibran

How often do we find ourselves mired in self doubt,
wondering if we're doing the right thing, if we're
following the right path, doing the right work? Too
often, I believe. For if we would only surrender to
the inner knowing we all possess, and have trust and
faith in our higher power, we will come to learn that
all is as it should be and we are, in truth, one with
the universe.

~~Reader's Corner~~

Lilly, on last week's Reflection: What an article!
It strikes home. Yes, I'm still promising to go on a
diet and other things to myself, but I never keep them.
Thank you for opening up my eyes.

Comments? Suggestions? Complaints? They don't
have to be about the newsletter, just about Reiki or
other healing topics. Be heard! Send them in!

~~Teaching Reiki~~
A tip from Francine Milford, N.D.
www.ReikiCenter.50megs.com

Something I learned the hard way:
Invest in a nice pad (matress cover) for your massage
table. Too many people refuse to take off their jewelry
during a Reiki treatment and their sharp rings, bracelets,
yes - even their toenails! - may damage the vinyl on your
massage table. The covers are only about $10.00 and well
worth the investment. Do NOT use down feathers,
magentic pads, etc. many people may have reactions to
these. Find something that is safe and non-allergenic to
use.

~~Up for Discussion~~

This column features a different question each week
for your musing, opinion, and response. Comments
received will be published in the next issue.

Last week's question: came from Ruth: I'm
interested in the effect of the various symbols in
one's aura. I am well aware of the purpose they
serve in the practitioner's hands and crown, but
has anyone written about or considered the effect
in the aura? I am also particularly interested in
various views of Reiki Masters on the use of the
Raku and whether it can be in the student's aura
even though it is not put in the aura or hands, but
used when disconnecting. I know that not everyone
uses this symbol, but many masters do. Your thoughts?

Jim: My feelings on this question is that the aura
holds the symbols as well as the various events
(via impression / imprints) of your lives in it. In
several metaphysical books on healing, they mention
that the aura holds traumatic events; thus creating
blockages in the energy fields. It would then make
sense that it also holds the impressions / imprints
of the symbols. I am not sure if this would means
that they are active as when receiving an attunement.
Is it possible that when a person receives a treatment
and the Reiki practitioner, draws the symbols in the
auric field, is indeed imprinting them on one or more
of the energy bodies/ levels of the aura? This is an
event and the symbols are energy. I haven't read any
specific Reiki book stating this to be possible
phenomena. These are my thoughts on the subject.

Vanessa: I always put the person I am sending reiki
to whether by distance or in person in the middle of
the Reiki symbol. To me the Reiki symbol is their
aura. I can feel exactly what has them blocked by the
color of the Reiki symbol that surrounds them. For
example: If they are experiencing pain, either physical
or emotional, the symbol is green, for healing, the
shades of green vary depending on the extent of their
pain. If they are having love issues the symbol is pink
sending them love energy. If it is a lethargy or
impatience they are dealing with the symbol is blue
for a calming affect to help them. I do believe the
symbol is a part of our aura's tremendously. They
are the energy we are made of and depending on
what specifically needs healing within each of us we
are given the colors to help with that as master teachers.
The Raku I am not sure of but would like to know more,
I will be interested in knowing of this concept!

Next week's question: comes from Judy: I am a
Reiki Master, and was taught to draw all 4 symbols
before starting my treatments. I have a friend who
is the same level as me, and she's been doing Reiki
longer than me, and doesn't draw the symbols before
her treatments. I'm wondering what the difference
is as far as healing goes. Does drawing the symbols
amplify the energy? Or does it not matter?

~~Just for Fun~~

Upon entering a little country store, the stranger noticed
a sign saying, "DANGER! BEWARE OF DOG!" posted
on the glass door.

Inside, he noticed a harmless old hound dog asleep on the
floor near the cash register. He asked the store's owner,
"Is that the dog folks are supposed to beware of?"

"Yep," the proprietor answered. "That's him."

The stranger couldn't help being amused. "That certainly
doesn't look like a dangerous dog to me," he chuckled.
"Why in the world did you decide to post that sign?"

"Because," the owner replied. "Before I posted that sign,
people kept tripping over him."

. . . . and one more 'cause i couldn't decide . . . .

It's a sunny morning in the Big Forest and the Bear family
are just waking up. Baby Bear goes downstairs and sits in
his small chair at the table. He looks into his small bowl.
It's empty! "Who's been eating my porridge?!" he squeaks.

Daddy Bear arrives at the table and sits in his big chair.
He looks into his big bowl. It's also empty!
"Who's been eating my porridge?!" he roars.

Mummy Bear puts her head through the serving hatch from
the kitchen and screams, "For God's sake, how many times
do we have to go through this? I haven't made the darn
porridge yet!!"
