~~Reflection~~ by Teri Moore, editor & RMT

First, a heartfelt thank you from my husband Terry and me for all your kind thoughts and prayers sent this past week while we were in Texas after the death of his stepfather. We had only met him a few times but he was a good man with a wonderful family. I know Terry's mom was comforted by our presence and by all the energy coming to us.

Second, to all those who responded to my request to purchase the electronic copy of the Journal to help finance my yoga teacher training course - - - please know how much you are appreciated and how dear I hold you in my heart. I only raised about ten percent through this site of what I needed, but I went ahead and made the decision to start my training. The course is two thousand dollars but they've agreed to let me make monthly payments which helps. I'll also continue to offer the electronic download of the Journal for a dollar, as well as a couple of other books I'm working on - hope to have these available soon!

As for my Reflection this week, I find myself running in circles, taking care of family members, without much downtime to take care of myself. I'm not big on New Year's resolutions, but I have made the decision to begin exercising again and eating better (you know how the holidays can affect that! :o) To start a daily practice of Reiki for self healing and centering, combined with a daily yoga practice. To love those around me, even if I don't agree with their decisions or actions. To let my children live their lives and be here for them when they need me. To take a little time everyday to sit and write and create something - no matter how small. To learn some new marketing tactics to bring in some design business so I can continue to work from home. And to keep all of you in my prayers and thoughts as I work to make this newsletter a valuable tool for you on your Reiki path.

2002 will be a year of building foundations (numerologically speaking). What decisions are you making to take care of yourself? What direction are you going as you move into this new year?

If you'd like to be a featured columnist, send your article to teri@reikione.com. I'll consider all submissions, but reserve the right to reject any that are inappropriate for this forum.

~~Some notes from Teri~~

Sample copies of ReikiOne: The Journal of Energy Healing are still available via electronic download for just $1! Visit http://www.reikione.com/r1journal.htm for more info.

The next issue of the Journal hits the presses in February. If you'd like to contribute an article, poem, etc., or place an advertisement, please visit http://www.reikione.com/subscribe.htm for submission guidelines. Payment is offered in print copies of the Journal in which your work appears.

The latest project at ReikiOne is in need of some creative talent as well! I'm compiling original meditations, quotations, observations, poems, "how-to-do-its," etc. into a perpetual desk calendar for energy practitioners. Send your submission(s) to teri@reikione.com, 100 words maximum. Payment is offered in copies of the calendar (spiral bound with laminated cover and back). Remember, whatever you send must be something you yourself wrote - not a quote from a secondary source.

~~Reader's Corner~~

From Teri: To the artist who submitted cover art for the next issue of ReikiOne: The Journal of Energy Healing - - - I accidentally deleted your email and artwork! Please resend to teri@reikione.com. Thanks and sorry for the hassle.

Also from Teri: It's been brought to my attention by one of our subscribers that when they receive this newsletter, all the information is ran together (absence of returns when I'm typing, I guess). Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Please let me know if you are so I can take measures in future issues to fix this.

From Bunny: Having just finished reading your newsletter and class listing I wanted to say thanks for doing a nice of getting the word out about Reiki. It is always a pleasure to know what others who are committed to healing work are doing. I teach classes in Montana and will look forward to listing my winter quarter classes with you with the dates are firm.

From Kathleen Presad, contributing writer to the Journal: I just received my copies of the ReikiOne journal in the mail yesterday. I am so excited to see my article in print!!!! The pictures turned out great! I just wanted to thank you SO MUCH for your support and for including me in the journal. Thanks too for your continued work on the ezine--I really enjoy reading all the Reiki stuff every week!

From Ruth, in response to an earlier Reflection column: "Or would we simply drift in the quiet peaceful embrace of the god/goddess/universe, knowing the gift of Reiki is alive in us and that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves?" (ed. note - quote from column). I believe that once we become Reiki -- and it is alive within us --that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. And through the very first Reiki attunement we become twice what we were before Reiki as our god/goddess selves bloom within accelerating our growth and our vibration. This change then enriches us in all that we think, say,and do recreating us as we should be. We inhale it, breathe it, use it and never grow weary through it. We hold this bottomless energy ready for any and every encounter. To me...it is truly a blessing.

From Michelle, in response to an earlier Reflection column: Like you, I am entering a 9 year as well. And, I agree too, that our work is our life and our life is our work and it truly involves Reiki and healing. It is unquestionably about change, cleaning out (ergo, I began a 60 day cleanse in mid November, in preparation for the "cleaning out" that comes with the 9 year). And the changes are on the horizon. May we contemplate them and make wise choices based in love, light and harmony. With the brightest of blessings to you - and much gratitude for this splendid newsletter.

~~Teaching Reiki~~
from Ruth Hawkins
Executive Director Canadian Reiki Healing Centre
http://www.canadianreiki.com

At the Canadian Reiki Healing Centre, we give each of our Level 2 students a small, hard-covered, book to use as their distance healing book. Since this is the level they learn distance healing, it gets them going right away. We find these lovely little books at the Dollar Store for $1 each and they have lovely covers - sunflowers, fairies, wildflowers etc. The students are always thrilled.

~~Up for Discussion~~

This column features a different question each week for your musing, opinion, and response. Comments received will be published in the next issue.

Last week's question: Here's your chance to make some predictions! Thinking about the coming year, where do you see the practice/teaching of Reiki going? Changes, discoveries, direction, modifications - or anything else that rings true to you.

Bonnie: I feel that within the next year the focus for Reiki will be one of connection with other healing modalities. Not just in using Reiki in connection with other healing modalities (i.e. using Reiki while doing massage etc), but centers opening where Reiki will be one of many healing tools offered. There will be an even greater need for the healing that Reiki offers as our world continues to change. Reiki and meditation will become two of the greatest tools that are used to ground and center ones self so that we can deal with the changes around us. The *understanding* of Reiki will be kicked up a notch. Until now, the impetus has been to *get Reiki out there*, to have it become a known and accepted system of healing. The focus will be changing to making best use of the system - personally and professionally. More practitioners will come to see the system as a *living entity*, rather than as a tool to be used and then put away until there is need for the tool again. New levels of understanding will be coming to us as healers. The purpose of our time will be revealed to us, and the struggles that many of us have had will take on a new meaning.

Next week's question: Do you suppose that there's ever any energy left over after a Reiki session? I mean, say your client has used as much as they can but you're still putting the energy out there . . . . where do you think it goes? Do you think it stays with the client, encircling them until it's needed? Does it disperse out into the Universe? Or, if you believe this doesn't happen, let us know your opinion on that as well!

Send your comments to teri@reikione.com with "discussion" in the subject line. Have a question you'd like to ask our readers? Send it in! teri@reikione.com. If you miss answering a question from a past issue, please feel free to still send in your comments, just reference the question you're replying to.

~~Just for Fun~~

A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. He passed a sign that said "low bridge ahead."

Before he knew it, the bridge was right ahead of him and he got stuck under the bridge. You could say that he got a rock solid "Trucker's Wedgie."

Cars were backed up for miles. Finally, a police car pulled up. The cop got out of his car and walked around to the truck driver, put his hands on his hips and said, "Got stuck, huh?"

The truck driver said, "No officer,... I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas!"
