of all that's transpired these past twelve months. Like so many of you, it
has been a year of change - radical change. Some of the changes, I've
shared with you in this column. Some, I kept close to my heart as they were
too painful to take out and write about. My two oldest children have left
home and are out on their own, forging their individual lives. My youngest
leaves for Air Force boot camp in April. My husband and I will be alone in
our house. It'll be the first time in twenty years I haven't had a child
with me - six years for my husband.
make it slow down so I can savor each day, each simple moment of living.
September eleventh made a lot of us do just that - stop and reflect on the
busy-ness of our lives, what was important and what wasn't.
today. This means basically that it's time to clean house, inside and out.
It's about getting rid of what doesn't work anymore and enhancing what does.
It's about change and cleansing and getting ready for the next nine year
cycle of my life.
opportunities are presenting themselves, and my desire to live simply in
line with the Universe is almost overwhelming. Reiki and yoga and painting
and writing are moving forward in importance. As I refine these skills, I'm
beginning to see a new direction unfold, a life path I hadn't considered
possible where my work is my life and my life is my work. With the nudging
of the Universe, I step lightly onto this new path, testing it, trying it on
for size - keeping one foot firmly in my current world (I am a Capricorn,
after all, and slow to change), watching for the moment when the opportunity to step ahead
with both feet arises.

like to add something in line with what Dave wrote. I could not agree with
his view more. In fact all that he has described about Reiki also describes
the contents of the ancient Vedas. For example, just like Reiki, Hinduism is
said to be a way of life. Also, Reiki helps us, as Dave so beautifully
describes it, to be equanimous, not disturbed by the turbulence of the waves
of the ocean of life. Whether we are riding the crest or the trough, the
ancient sages asked us to be peaceful, to 'know, that it will all pass, that
neither the good nor the bad is permanent.
found that if I consciously want this tranquility, I can play a part in
making it come about by not only intending it, but by sending Reiki to the
intention. Thus, everyday, I end my self healing with sending Reiki and
Magnified Healing Energy for the intention: 'I must exhaust the vasanas (
the Vedic term for the cause of our existence in this physical body) that I
can, and rise above the ones that I cannot (not by negating them) all for my
highest good' This has made a difference in my life, helping me to cope with
the egos of people around me.

causal level, we are ONE, and that nothing is actually 'done' at the
individual level, then we will realize that Reiki coming from the ONE source
is also going to the ONE source, through the conduit of physical human
beings. It is going about its business, and in the process increasing our
collective spiritual awareness, and we neither have the power nor the right
to control it by directing it any other way, however well meaning our
intentions! The best thing therefore, is to let it flow without obstruction
which can only be accomplished if we ourselves remain in the flow!! Not
inactively i.e. passively, but 'inactively i.e. without an active role!

group of students would come for classes, I would arrange to pick up that
month's flower arrangement. As each student completed the day's course and
was about to leave, I would pick a flower from the arrangement and give one
to each student. Some students would call to tell me that they had pressed
the flower in a book for remembrance while others used the flower to
practice their newly acquired Reiki symbols on. It meant a lot to me. I no
longer buy the flower arrangements due to circumstances, but I often think
of it and hope to start it up again in the future. (Yes, even the men seemed to enjoy

others - what do YOU do to take care of YOU (Reiki, meditation, etc.)?
Also, from the week before last - Please share with us an attunement
experience - one you received or gave (or both!).
to blow me away . Except , I had been walking around in spirit for years as
a Pentecostal Christian , and was used to being " in spirit " ! The second
attunement my body reacted by blowing up from the inside about 10 minutes
before hand ! My abdomen just started filling - not with water or air - I
had to unbutton my jeans ! The person doing the attunement was in awe , we
were both giggling because it was just so odd . After the attunement , I was
passing gas every way I could for about a day and a half . It was during
this attunement that my guides appeared and I heard them for the first time
. The one on my left , Theomagmum ( Theo ) , is my " information officer " .
The one directly in front is Belinda , my reiki guide . And to my right is
Timothy , a collective of spirits to aid me in my spiritual walk . Well ,
Theo is quite the prankster to get my attention . He said ( as I was in
total bliss out from the attunement ) " You're pregnant " . Which of course
is my worst nightmare . Belinda scolded him " Oh she is not tell her the
truth " . Timothy " Well she is sort of " . Theo , " Yes , pregnant,
absolutely " . Belinda " Now , that is enough , tell her the complete whole
of it " . " Ok , ok , you are pregnant with knowledge and will give birth to
wisdom " said Theo . Ahem ... I still haven't figured that out yet , they
say " In time , in time " .
bathtub ....and I rather demand time to myself , if I don't meditate or work
out on a regular basis , I become a female dog . My family is more than
happy to comply . It is one of the most important things as healers we must
do . If we are not in top form , how can we be of any good to anyone else ?
Our vibrations must be raised higher than those we are to help . Otherwise ,
we can't do anything to help them raise their vibes . Demand time - if it's
important to you then it better be important for those who love you .
attunement experience. That would be from my first attunement. My Reiki
Master gave me my first degree via distance. I had been getting sick very
often and this was Tami's gift to me hoping I would begin to use Reiki and
the principles to create health in my life. I had been a healer before my
attunement. In fact I really did not realized the gift she had given me
until sometime later. Just before I received my second degree attunement I
was re-attuned as first degree attunement personally. For the long distance
attunement,we agreed on a specific time we would do this and I went into
meditation. I have to say Tami was great as she did not set up any
expectations and my experience was completely my own. During this meditation
I saw vividly a large bright pink puffy heart. It felt warm and comforting.
I felt much love. Shortly afterward Tami called me and asked what I had
experienced. I shared with her the wonderful vision. The reason this was so
significant to me was that Tami is all about love. There is
nothing about her that is not loving. Thus the reason I chose her to do my
second degree attunement and later my master/teacher attunement. Tami also
taught me I could go anywhere for my other attunements. In giving up my
attachment to my students coming to me over and over again, I actually have
created more students as opposed to competing for students (competition with
others for students, which is absolutely NOT Reiki).
inwardly focused. Meaning...I am only about myself and my needs instead of
about others. I change my focus to outward. Who can I give to? Who can I
love? Who can I give a smile to. Buy a latte for? Random acts of kindness
always renew and rejuvenate me. Last night even though it was MY Birthday
and MY day to celebrate me, I went with a friend to help him pick out a
promise ring for his girlfriend for Christmas. The miracle of outward focus
turned into a wonderful dinner as a thank you and music he wrote for me
titled "Pure Joy". What a beautiful birthday!
Thinking about the coming year, where do you see the practice/teaching of
