It's hard to believe that the new year is almost a month old. So many changes are already under way, kick started by the Harmonic Concordance. Have you noticed? My perception is of a 'drawing up of sides' so to speak. I see many people choosing to transition right now. I see many choosing to stay in old patterns that no longer serve them, but are comfortable for ego just the same. And I've seen many called to step outside their comfort zones, moving forward into a new life filled with light and healing. Have you felt it too? Because I don't really advertise or have a set teaching schedule, I typically teach maybe a dozen or so classes a year. By the end of January, I'll have taught three already. All of my students have been searching, looking for that connection that takes them outside themselves and binds them to the Universe. What a wonderful and simple gift Reiki is, letting us connect to the energy/Universe/God/dess/Higher Power and channel it through our bodies and spirits. What a transforming experience. D, on last issue's Discussion: Oh! what a wonderful thing for the children to have Reiki attunements, I am so moved by the stories. I am 100% sure its a good thing, I wish I would have had Reiki when I was little, It might have made my life at school & home (being bullied myself) more bearable. I am thankful I finally caught up with the program here at 33yrs old:). Teri, I think your news letter is GREAT! it comes from your heart and I and others really appreciate it. Doreen, also on attuning children: In response to children being attuned, I believe it is Ok to attune children to Reiki as long as you have their permission and don't impose your own will on them. You need permission to do Reiki treatments, its no different for attuning them. Michelle, on the new desktop graphics at ReikiOne.com: Thank you Teri for the BEAUTIFUL designs they are perfect. Send them in! teri@reikione.com Dawn: I received my Usui Reiki training in three classes, each a month apart: First degree, one day, one symbol, four attunements. Second degree, one day, two symbols (plus the reversed first), two attunements. Third degree was Master/Teacher, one day, two symbols, one attunement. Anticlimactic, but that's beside the point. Since then, I've become aware of many other class arrangements, but nothing to explain the differences. Why do some people teach 3rd degree separate from master/teacher? Our combination class was pretty lacking in substance; I can't imagine splitting it up into two separate classes. Then again, I'd like to come up with something different than what I experienced; I feel like part of the class was missing. I'd like to study with a different RM/T but won't have the $$ any time soon and don't feel right bartering for something I will probably receive income from later. I've spoken to several people who say they've taken a Reiki class where they "felt the energy between their hands" but have never been taught any symbols; even one who was ready for Master/Teacher except, again, no knowledge of symbols. Why is that? There are many systems of energy healing.. without the symbols, how is Reiki distinct? and how is it specifically accessed? It sounds more like a basic energy healing class, with Reiki details added later if the students return.. not a bad idea, now that I think about it *LOL* Lots of questions, I know.. been wanting to ask them for a couple years (believe that?!) but didn't want to sound dumb.. now I'm beyond caring & just want knowledge. Send it to me at teri@reikione.com. Last week's question came from Earl: Can Reiki healing be sent to someone 17 or 18 years in the past? If it can does the exact date and time need to be known? Adrian: Time only ticks in our mind and is an invention by man to follow the flow of change of the universe in a linear way (seconds), thus an exact time would only assist us in labeling that moment but is really not necessary as every moment that ever was and ever will be is universally connected. The only important factor for sending distance Reiki, whether it is in this moment or another moment, is your intention to send healing as this will direct Reiki to any space or time. Try to imagine the person or event which you are sending Reiki to as a just that, a person or event, rather than a far away place in time, visualizing will help. If you choose to, use the Distance or Master symbols as they embody this principle of connectedness. Hope this helps. Next issue's question comes from Star: I was working with a friend who was attuned by a different master, in another state. We were treating a man with the flu, and it was her first experience working with another Reiki master. Our client was markedly improved, and while everyone around him got sick, his symptoms stopped later that evening. The next day my Reiki friend told me, while working with me, she got an idea that there was a symbol for viruses. She went home and checked the information she had received from her teacher, and sure enough, there was. This is the first time I had heard of a symbol just for viruses. My girlfriend has been told not to share it with anyone. Has anyone here heard of this symbol? If this is something I should know about, where do I go for the information? Marcolene: I have recently completed my Reiki Masters and during my period of training I used a spare room in my house for my Reiki Practice which was very comfortable and acceptable to my clients. I now started building an outside room in my garden with a separate entrance and added a bit of zen to the garden, fairies and angels, lots of plants and flowers and a water feature. It will take a while before its completely ready in the meantime though I am having lots of fun with this project of mine. I decided to do this cause I believe a tranquil, peaceful environment, waiting area and surroundings will put the client in the right state of mind for the Reiki session. I am quite excited about this as later I will be using the facility as a Reiki training centre. Your pet Reiki article was wonderful. Pet Reiki was mentioned by my teacher, who did not go in depth about it. However, her sweet dog Willa was perfectly willing to be my practice subject. So Willa was also my teacher. All of the pets I have worked with, including my beta, accept what they want, then go away. We always have a intuitive connection afterwards.

Tina-Lorraine: Just want to share my experience with Reiki and plants. My Reiki master always said that she reiki'd her plants, but I was somewhat skeptical. I had lived in an apartment with no space for growing things (except the odd indoor plant) and was not sure about my ability to grow vegetables. However our circumstances changed, and we now find ourselves renting a large house in New Zealand with lots of space outside. We removed tons of stones from the poor soil, and planted beans, snowpeas, chard, lettuces, tomatoes and radishes. I meditated over those seedlings, and sent them the Reiki grounding symbol every day. Much to my surprise they are now (in the summer of this hemisphere) tall, beautiful and flourishing. It is an inexpressible pleasure not only to be eating salads from our own garden (the tomatoes are green but growing fast!) but to be sharing them with those we love. We did what we could afford in the way of manuring, etc, but considering the state of the soil, I think we got returns out of all proportion. Namaste!!
