~~Reflection~~ Teri Moore, editor & RMT

So sorry for missing the last two weeks! Life has been full lately and it was difficult to find time to sit down at the computer and put the issues together. But things are settling down and here's your newsletter :o}

There are a couple of business/site related items I'd like to share with you. First, I've put up a new page with handcrafted jewelry and original artwork (yup, my creations). I find I have an abundance of sparklies and pretties about my house and have decided to share with all of you. So, if you're looking for something special - charged with Reiki energy of course and smudged so they're nice and clear for you - visit http://www.reikione.com/shop.htm. Also there, you'll find some neat little goddess images. If you like my stuff, check back often as I'll be adding special angel art in the future along with quartz crystal pendants.

I've also updated the cafepress.com shop with a new item - Reiki Journals! Very cool and great for tracking clients or your Reiki experiences. The store is located at http://www.cafeshops.com/reikionep if you'd like to visit.

Thanks for listening to my updates. I know they're not exciting, but offering these items allows me to keep this newsletter and ReikiOne.com up and running (and keeps my house from overflowing with gemstones and artwork!) :o]

My wish for you is a wonderful week filled with light, love, and laughter.

~~Reader's Corner~~

Margaret, on last issue's Reflection: What a wonderful quote! It reminds me of my favorite (from Marianne Williamson "Return to Love") on being powerful. I like to read it to my Reiki students at the start of class. Here in the deep south, many women of my generation were not taught to let their light shine. Instead the message was to shrink so that others could shine. What a waste of ourselves it was. Thanks for all your hard work for all of us out here who look forward to your weekly messages and to hearing the comments from around the world.

Heidi: Thank you for that latest reflection! I love the quote, "There will only be one of you for all time. Fearlessly be yourself." It hits home with what I've been working with lately. As always, I love the newsletter.

Janine, on Iris' Reiki Experience (see last newsletter at http://www.reikione.com/cgi-bin/news.cgi): This is the first time I have responded to the newsletter, although I always read and enjoy it. Thank you for putting it together. I am a Reiki Master Teacher, Massage Therapist and Holistic Aromatherapist. I have a holistic practice incorporating all of these and this is how I make my living. This is in response to Iris and people practicing Reiki as a means of generating an income and not for the love of Reiki. I occasionally get an e-mail or phone call from someone asking if I charge for Reiki classes or offer them free as it was intended. I am not sure whose intention this was, but I live in the physical world and have rent to pay. If I did not charge for my time, I would not have the time to offer my services. I practice the holistic arts - Reiki included - both to earn a living and for the love of the arts. I don't think anyone that did not have a love of the healing arts would practice them long. In addition, it feels like a judgment on the store owners part to assume she knows another's intent. We are all headed in the same direction, but take different paths to get there. One way is not right or wrong, it's just the choice that was made. Do what you feel in your heart is right.

Willy, also on Iris' Experience: Well Iris, I gather we all know somebody who deals with 'spiritual healing' in a rather strange way. However, imho, seeing other people being greedy and reaching for the big cash, only makes me more confident in the way I want to work with Reiki. In an earlier answer for the Newsletter I already referred to 'The importance of intent' by Mr. T. King, and I would bring it to the attention once again. My one and only aim is trying to work with Reiki with the most integrity I have in me, and no other person could move me away from this. I'm a Reiki III, and if I want to, I can start earning big money, but although the extra income would be most welcome, I keep refusing to give lessons and attunements until I have some more self-confidence in my abilities to do it right. When this person you saw claims to stop working with Reiki because of malpractice she sees, then this person has a big problem with herself. Does anyone of us stops driving a car because a number of idiots drive irresponsibly and kill other people with their car ? Seeing someone driving like mad makes me becoming even more careful myself. Everyone has his own responsibility, and things other people do shouldn't keep us away from this responsibility, but strengthen us to do it with the right intention.

Maurice, on an earlier Reflection on the symbols: Being relatively new to the beauty and power of Reiki, now Shamballa Reiki II, I feel that it should be Sacred and not secret. The object of Reiki is to heal the world and all in and on our beloved planet. The cost of Reiki should be at the hand of the master. But cost is a must. When you devote your life to Reiki it should be the only sustaining source of income, including all the other tools that are available.

Aaron: Bravo for your views on the Reiki symbols. I think Sacred, not Secret is the way to go, especially seeing how the kanji components of two of them can be found in many simple Japanese-English dictionaries. I've also seen parts of them on imported CD's, Asian food wrappers and restaurants.

Lynne: I am wondering how Reiki would help me get rid of hep c virus or feel better. I only use alternative medicine. (ed. note: if anyone has information on this, send it to me at teri@reikione.com and i'll post it here in the next newsletter).

Comments? Suggestions? Complaints? They don't have to be about the newsletter, just about Reiki or other healing topics. Be heard! Send them in! teri@reikione.com

~~Reiki Experience~~

from Starr: Reiki-On-The-Spot!
I was test-driving a car on a major thoroughfare; the salesman was sitting in the passenger’s seat. He asked, “What do you do for a living?” I said, “I teach Reiki, and give sessions.” I needed to focus on whether I wanted to buy the car so I didn’t add my usual, “Have you heard about Reiki?” Then he asked, “What is Reiki?” I smiled as my commitment kicked in. I asked, “Well, can I show you?” and he said, “Yes.” Driving 35 mph down this busy road listening to the engine, absorbing the feel of the car, I backhanded Reiki to his heart. I focused on my hand in front of his heart, intending Reiki to blast ~ I didn’t have time for the usual! Within a few seconds he had a dumbfounded look on his face. He slowly looked down at himself and whispered, “What is that??” I just kept my hand over his heart and answered, “That’s Reiki.”

Until we got back to the dealership ten minutes later, I kept glancing at him because it amazed even me, listening to him and observing his reaction to Reiki! His comments included: “I’m so relaxed!” and “I had so many problems in my head, and they’re just gone!” and “This is amazing, how do you do that?” and, over and over, “God, what is this, I love it!” He became more and more relaxed till he just folded in half, hanging his arms, dropping his papers on the floor. When I drove onto the lot, his voice was a relaxed slur as he asked, "Will you just drive to the side lot so my boss doesn’t know we’re back? I don’t want you to stop, I hope I’m not asking too much!” It was my pleasure of course. He was experiencing a wonderful response to Reiki and I was having a great time observing him. Since he was folded over, if his boss had looked out the window I wonder if he’d be puzzled to see only me in the car?? I parked in the side lot and gave Reiki to his back. He said, “My whole back is tingling”, then, “My whole body is tingling, and I feel so great, all the problems in my mind have fallen away from me.” And, out of the mouths of babes, “I feel like my mother is holding me.” We sat and talked about Reiki and we planned a session for him that evening.

He was a terrific Reiki sponge! Perspiration ran down my torso most of the session from the heat of all he was absorbing. Within minutes was sound asleep. Upon awakening he had lots to say about his experience and left teary eyed. An hour later he called saying his fiancé noticed how different he was the second he came in the door, how relaxed and peaceful he was, so unlike himself after a day of work. He told her about his session, and she wanted one the next evening.

They arrived during a downpour. It was a precious sight to see them come up my walkway, his arm around her under the umbrella as he brought her to me for Reiki! When we started to talk it was clear she was fearful and I praised her for the courage to try something new with someone she doesn’t know. She lay on the table, and when I turned her over a half hour later to do her back, she fell asleep. Afterwards she said, “That was really weird. Everywhere you put your hands tingled, and when you moved your hands I could still feel them where you left. I pressed my hands on the table to be sure it was still there because I felt like I was floating.” They’re both coming for more sessions, and they registered for Reiki I in Sept.

I hope you enjoyed this story, but most of all I hope this impresses all of us with how we can do Reiki anywhere, anytime. Reiki will do the work. We just need to put out our hand and trust.

~~Up for Discussion~~

This column features a different question each week for your musing, opinion, and response. Comments received will be published in the next issue.

Last week's question came from Karen: I have lately been very drawn to books and articles about ley lines and meridian lines on the Earth. In particular, the importance of clearing main chakra points and areas where ley lines cross, here in the UK. I'm very interested in learning more about how I can do my 'bit' to help clear the energy lines that may have been blocked over the years - in particular how I can use Reiki (I'm at an early Reiki 2 level) and crystals to do this safely. For info, the only thing I've done so far is just recently: on impulse I decided to trek up to Likely Moor - here in Yorkshire - in the pouring rain (my poor husband!) and left a Rose Quartz crystal at an 'important' stone on Likely Moor, Yorkshire - don't ask me why exactly, I just knew it needed doing! At the stone, I drew (in the air above it) the Reiki power symbol, emotional symbol and then the power one again, like a sandwich. I'd very much like to do more clearing, but I'd like to know that I'm doing it properly, rather than just by what comes into my head, as I could be doing more harm than good! For some reason, I feel a real sense of urgency about this. So..does anyone else use Reiki in this way, please? And are there any simple to read books, or websites, that can help me with this Earth clearing? How do I find where the major ley lines are, or do I need to learn dowsing to find them myself? So many questions...as you can see, I'm a novice to all this (in this life, anyway!) and any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so very much.

Ruth: Don't ever think you are doing anything wrong with Reiki as you can do no harm with Reiki. You are trusting your feelings and your intuition as you are guided to do the right thing. Stay with it, keep tuning in as we all should filling with and spreading the light. Many times I have found myself using the symbols and or crystals in ways that were never taught to me (to help in world situations) and I never doubted what I was doing, knowing intuitively it was always right. Keep up your wonderful work. God bless you.

KayC: Apart from being a Reiki practitioner and Massage Therapist, I am also a Dowser. I love this gift! I had an experience once (quite an eye opener) with a workshop I attended on Dowsing. I pretty much was there to confirm my own beliefs, thankfully! The lady, who seemed a nice enough person, was quite agitated and sensed I had negative beings who had made an attachment with me. She went on to 'clear' me from these so called negative beings, stating that I had thousands.... phew, what a release, NOT!!! From what I observed she was intent on using her dowsing abilities to turn negative into positive, evil into good, etc etc... but she was out there looking for them, or supposedly them finding her (but why wouldn't they - she was asking to attract them). MY FINDINGS: to me, I like to call energies balanced or unbalanced, (just like we can all be at times) With love and nurturing we can adjust and heal to a balanced state. If I had so many attachments with unbalanced energies, I'm sure they were just after a little unconditional love to help balance themselves. 'Acknowledgement' - is the key, I may not always feel their presence, but when I acknowledge them - I invite them (I also do this for all my clients) to draw on the universal energies or love to help heal them, body-mind-spirit! Negative energies, ley lines, etc are places in our universe where the energy has become unbalanced - to acknowledge it - send it love and healing - just as Karen has done - there is no right or wrong way - if you have sensed that you 'needed' to do it, you have just been asked to help with 'your' healing abilities. For me Dowsing is a great tool! As I am not clairvoyant so to speak (but I'm always working on it - my husband always hears me when I'm thinking!) so I use a pendulum to help me with my findings. Through the art of Dowsing I access the Akashic records for answers on healing, medicines etc. I have finally come across a lovely lady (who seems to share my views in regards to the negativity issues anyway) who is based in Australia (me too), although I'm sure there are plenty around the world, and I have included the URL for her site: Hope this is of some assistance...www.geomantica.com

Tere: I now want to share my perspective regarding Karen's question on Earth ley and meridian lines. As I see it, Mother Earth is a living organism much like our bodies are. We have the chakra centers that draw energy in and out. They are well known probably because of the power each can create. Yet every pore is a tiny chakra, drawing energy in and out; 'breathing'. Earth, I believe, is very similar. I find the area of the middle east to be a chakra. History supports this believe. Many mountains and man made landscapes also tell me they are receiving and drawing energy to and from the center of Earth, such as the Alps, the Andes, the Five Sisters and the Rockies in EU, the Eiffel Tower, the pyramids in Egypt and Mexico, Henge Stone, close to where Karen is, etc. But every mountain is a pore! Every valley is a pore, every square meter or yard or acre there's got to be a pore! I also see cities in general as energy receivers and senders. Have you noticed that from the sky, many look like computer microchips? And whatever the city is living is equal to the energy it draws in and out. I trust this makes sense to you, Karen and the rest of brothers interested in this subject, if only to make you think. Perhaps you come up with something more. I lived on the top of a mountain once, and enjoyed playing with its crest, creating circles with stones that appealed to me around it with the intention to draw love, declaring the CKR and then a combination with the rest, depending on what circumstances I was perceiving.... And remember, we are each a pore, and the cleaner our life is, the cleaner the channel.

Kirsty: I am an advanced Reiki 2 and think what Karen did was fantastic!. Karen followed her intuition / higher wisdom / guidance- and i believe the higher self is always right!. The good intent was there ~ in my experience and knowledge- as long as the intention is good, NO Harm can be done! Reiki has the wisdom to go where it is needed ~ Just remember to ask the permission from the land- if it is not required, needed or wanted then the reiki energy will dissipate- as long as it is for the HIGHEST GOOD!! Maybe you could use dowsing rods or a pendulum to search for the areas? Hope this helps, keep up the great work.

Kelly: I don’t really know anything about the subject myself, but have heard of someone in the UK called David Ashworth. I first heard about him and his book through this newsletter. The book is about Reiki, entities, psychic attack and protection, clearing spaces of negative vibrations. I would definitely recommend it to anyone doing Reiki. It is obvious that he is very gifted in tuning into earth vibrations and healing spaces. He has a website www.davidashworth.com, which gives details about his book and he runs workshops in earth energies, earth healing, dowsing etc.

Next week's question comes from Marion: While talking with another Reiki friend of mine the topic of paranoia and Reiki came up. Now Paranoid is a harsh description of the condition, but you get my meaning. We have noticed that many Reiki masters seem to get tied up with negative thinking and well, paranoid thought about other Reiki practitioners. More of the "MY Reiki is better than YOUR Reiki" marketing strategies and other unpleasant patterns. Also the lack of personal health & wellness alot of Reiki masters exhibit. I am as guilty of that as anyone, being overweight and undisciplined about my physical health. I have heard of the archetype of the "Wounded Healer" and wondering of that is what is going on. Any thoughts?

Also am wondering about methods for grounding other Reiki practitioners utilize. I work with stones beneath my table and sometimes physically embrace trees to ground the excess energy or emotions I feel. My mantra for healing lately seem to be "Turn FEAR into FERTILIZER!" My healing space at home is in the basement & the room is surrounded by maple roots. I can feel the discharge being absorbed by Grandmother Maple. (Yes, I know this is not traditional Reiki practice, but it is where my practice has naturally gone.) Anyone else use tools for grounding?

Heidi: I have incorporated therapeutic essential oils into my Reiki practice and all I can say is "WOW"! They are so amazing and are a wonderful compliment to Reiki. For example, Valor is a wonderful balancing oil. Not only does it help align the spine and physical body but it helps to align the emotional and spiritual body as well. The oils listed on my website are a wonderful addition to any Reiki practice so I wanted to share. http://northernwisdom.younglivingworld.com.

~~Just for Fun~~~
this one's for my son who comes home from bootcamp this week after 5 months!

Twenty-eight years ago, Herman James, a Tennessee mountain man, was drafted by the Army.

On his first day in boot camp, the Army issued him a comb. That afternoon, an Army barber sheared his head.

On his second day, the Army issued him a tooth brush. That afternoon, an Army dentist yanked several of his teeth.

On his third day, he was issued a jock strap...

The Army is still looking for him.
