I was sitting in my office, contemplating my path and life's purpose, as I watched the finches flit about the feeder outside my window. Another windy day, one lands on the perch, a big gust of wind follows and before I know it, the bird immediately drops to the ground. I laugh and my dog jumps up on my lap to see what's going on. In an effort to defend me, she growls at the little bird, then curls up and promptly goes to sleep. Back to my musings, I take a sip of ginger tea and I'm struck with a moment of clarity - you know those ones where you can see how all the pieces fit together and it all makes sense? I love it when these come to me, though they never seem to happen enough. In my vision, I see my life and everything I've accomplished, failed at, learned, and studied. Then this sentence breezes through my mind, "I am building a healing practice I can share with others." All the Reiki and Yoga and Art and Intuitive studies blend together and I realize I'm finally at a place where I can share with others. The result of this flash of inspiration? JoAnn, on an earlier Reiki Experience: Asking about the what we think should not be the point. Did this woman ask? Did you offer it? Or are you asking about the increase in symptoms. I teach about this in terms of a healing crisis. As such I ask my students to recognize that where there is disharmony, say between ego and id or spiritual and physical reality there may be uncomfortable reactions that will pass as clarity and harmony are restored. Janet, on last week's Reflection: There is a similar Irish blessing..."Keep a green bough in your heart and God will send you a singing bird." My aunt gave me a beautiful green glass bird ornament along with this blessing. It is a treasured gift. JoAnn: As to the question about meditation, depends on their belief system as to the person seeking this healing, I ask them to act consistent with that belief. Either offer a prayer suitable to their faith or visualize what they seek in this as flowing into their lives, sometimes I speak a prayer aloud, depends on what I am led to after consulting with my clients and gaining clarity about their intentions and needs. LJ, on the same topic: My clients and I have had a lot of success with meditation in Reiki. Often the client goes very deep into the meditation and gains great insights into the illnesses and issues at hand. Lisa: I'd just like to thank the people that sent in the answers to my question about meditation and reiki thank you very much Suzie, on an earlier Discussion: on the woman that had eczema. I am a REIKI Master. I have had eczema since birth and so does my mom, who is also a REIKI Master. my mom's hands sometimes REALLY get bad, and then sometimes it's not even there. I took an antioxidant called OPC-3, and I really haven't gotten a bad case since taken that and continuing the REIKI. you can find information about the product on MarketAmericaUsa.com or Usa MArketAmerica.com . I used to be a distributor for the company. it is a GREAT product. if by chance you can get info. that way let me know and I will get you info. another way. I hope that was helpful. Bruce, on the same Discussion regarding eczema: When I've treated people who have autoimmune conditions -- including one who had eczema -- the condition has always been due to overactive heart "fire" (in the 5-elements system of Traditional Chinese Medicine). I'd advise using "water" energy (bubbling up through the feet, up through the bones of the legs, into the kidneys, then going to wherever it's needed) to balance out the heart fire (water containing fire). "Pulling" the heart fire down into the stomach/spleen area also seems to help alleviate symptoms (fire creating earth). I'm guessing that the reiki treatments that Libby's friend received previously added "fire" to "fire," and thus resulted in exacerbated symptoms. I wrote a few notes on the session that I did in advising my friend w/ eczema, and would be happy to forward 'em to Libby if she'd want to look at them. Alain: First of all thanks a lot for the wonderful and huge work you are doing for us. Today i was really very happy to get my Newsletter back on my Email. Anyway when i didn't get it, i went regularly on your site "reikione.com" to pick it up. The Newsletter makes me feel confident in Reiki, with people sharing their experience, their doubts and their success. By my work, i don't have the possibility to have a Master Teacher. The Newsletter is like a Master for me. Once again thank you very much. Renee: Re: Lisa's question about doing a meditation with the client before a session .. I do a little meditation/ritual before a session the way I was taught: Gassho - meditation, Reiji-ho and Chiryo ... it doesn't take long and it's never the same but it centers me ... this moment of stillness gives the client some time too ... but I have not really done a meditation together with a client, except with a very close friend ... Renee: For Libby: It is amazing how often we question Reiki and her energy .... and this is mostly the case when we expect (and want to be in control) of the outcome of the treatment ... well, we are not ... and this is the hardest thing to learn ... We are not in control ... we cannot heal anybody else, we can only heal ourselves ... There is no wrong way to do Reiki, nor is their a wrong way to receive it ... Reiki is a natural balancing energy and we are facilitators ...It is not unusual for symptoms to intensify after a healing session, and sometimes a healing-crisis might occur ... this is all part of the healing process ... it is not easy to not blame Reiki or any other therapy if the outcome disappoints us or makes the situation worse .... I know that ...As for offering your friend Reiki healing ??? Absolutely Libby ... go with your intuition ... your question feels as if there is doubt in your mind and if you don't feel comfortable with this, then don't do it. Right now I think your friend will benefit from a whole body treatment ... ask permission to touch her since she might not like that and if she doesn't want to be touched, do the healing right above her ... and I would use the mental/emotional symbol before and during the session. Eczema indicates often an extreme sensitivity to the life circumstances and emotions around us. Skin problems are a way to keep the world at a distance ... it limits physical contact ... touching hurts ... Comments? Suggestions? Complaints? I did a session on a new client the other week, and after the session was discussing how it went etc and she said she was very aware of someone blowing into her third eye area, and it was not me. She has been told she could be a medium with training but she has put a block on it at the moment due to time constraints. Has anyone come across this before? Marion: Reiki Share Group suggestions? Recently I started a Reiki share group in Cincinnati. We plan to meet once a month. It is primarily a support for my students, but other lineages are welcome as well. My question is to those who are attending or have attended such a gathering. What did you do? What worked or did not work in your experience? Last week's question came from Jennifer: what are the thoughts on women receiving Reiki attunements while pregnant? (especially the Master attunement) Is the fetus attuned as well in that situation ... or is it left to the fetus' higher self to accept or decline (as in distant healing). I've not had a lot of luck finding solid information that addresses this specifically, so I'm interested in any ideas that other practitioners may have. Bonnie: I am a Reiki Master and Teacher, but have never encountered this issue. My personal inclination would be that the fetus has a soul, as does the mother, and both have Higher Selves to guide them. The fetus, having a Higher Self, could very well make the decision to accept or reject the attunement. On another note - I do not feel that the fetus would be affected by any clearing that is being done with any of the mothers bodies. Kathy: I am a Reiki master and am able to access my Reiki guide when I have questions. I got the following information for you. "The master attunement will not affect the fetus at all. The process is done to the mother. The only thing that might affect the fetus would be the clearing and cleansing process that follows the attunement. That could cause discomfort to the mother, but not harm the fetus.___" Next week's question comes from Debbie: I have been doing Reiki treatments on a woman for a number of years now, and she has expressed interest in taking a Reiki 1 class. Ordinarily this would not even be a question, for I believe that Reiki 1 should be open to all. The woman, however, has multiple personality disorder, and it gave me some concern. I have worked on some of her different "selves," and have met several others. She is working with a licensed psychotherapist and making progress towards integration, and feels that the Reiki will help her in this. I do too...I'm just wondering if anyone out there has experience in passing attunements to people with MPD and if there are any words of wisdom for us. Thank you! ~~Reiki Experience~~

This seems like a Reiki Experience sharing, so I'm including this question/comment here . . . .
At present we begin by sharing questions about our Reiki practice. Things we have noticed while working on self or others, etc. This is an open discussion. Then we break into pairs or trios to do 15-minute sessions with each other. I sent everyone off with the suggestion that they work on three people in the next month with at least one a new person. (I had discovered that most of my students were not practicing & hoped that this would give them some structure to gain confidence.) A good time seemed to be had by all at the gathering. I am looking for suggestions from others to make this a useful experience. I do charge $10 per person, with a $5 discount if someone brings a massage table. (This goes to pay for the room.)
