ReikiOne.com Newsletter
Archived issues of this newsletter are available for viewing at http://www.reikione.com/news/. Here we are, at the end of another year. This marks the second anniversary of the ReikiOne Newsletter and, while it hasn't been as 'weekly' the past six months as it had been, the subscriber base has grown tremendously. Do you know almost 2000 people receive this newsletter? I started with about 75 who had signed up through the Practitioner/Teacher Directory to receive further info from my site. And the newsletter has grown from there, thanks to all of you who pass it on to your Reiki friends and students. I greatly appreciate your participation - and value the friendships that have developed through the writing of this newsletter. The insight gained from your sharing is invaluable, as so many of you have written to say. One of my dreams has come true through this sharing - to create a loving supportive community of folks from all 'walks' of Reiki. Another of my dreams is to finalize my series of Reiki Manuals and that will soon be realized as well. The third degree manuals are underway (there will be 2 - one for Master and one for Master Teacher). I've promised several of you I'd have them available the first of the year and that's still my goal; now that the holidays are pretty much behind us and my design business has slowed down, I'm digging into the writing. What a journey for me, as a teacher, to try to get down on paper the things I say during my classes! But I love the process and possibility for growth it presents to me. One last bit of info for you this week. I've recently started selling Goddess/Angel/Deva figures/dolls on eBay. These are fantasy/mythological art assemblage creatures that jump out of my imagination and find themselves crafted of wire and clay and sparkly things. Of course, they all get a nice dose of Reiki energy in the creation process and are blessed upon completion. I invite you to visit my auction site at http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/luvwriter/ to check them out. I'd love your input/comments/ideas once you've had a chance to take a peek so don't be shy about writing me on this! :o] The dolls are a new direction for my art expression and one I'm finding extremely enjoyable. 'Course, I'm still painting (you can see some of them at http://www.cafepress.com/reikionep). But the little creatures are something I've always wanted to try and finally formulated a good method that suits me. I can honestly tell you all this creative stuff just started oozing out of me since I became attuned almost eight years ago - - - I always played around, but the energy has added a wonderful dimension to everything I do. Have a happy New Year and know my thoughts, love, and good wishes are with you as we enter 2003. Comments or thoughts? Email Teri at teri@reikione.com. Suzanne: A beautiful article - especially the part about: "small changes build on previous small changes, an enhancement upon an enhancement leads to amazing transformation over time. " Very similar to what is taught in Bikram Yoga. Do you have any details on how to perform Hatsurei Ho? (ed. note: You can visit Rick Rivard's site - http://threshold.ca/reiki/japan/URR_Sample_Hatsurei_ho.html - for add'l info on hatsurei ho. Or type it in the search engine and you'll find several sites with the instructions as to how to perform this meditation). Karen: Just a very quick note to tell how much I've enjoyed reading your newsletter this year - following my Reiki I attunement earlier in January. Thank you very much for devoting your time and energies - it is so very much appreciated. Here's wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays and I look forward to another year (hopefully!) of the ReikiOne Newsletter. Sunny: Just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your newsletter so much! I had my Reiki one training 3 weeks ago (had a lot of uncomfortable things clear out) and was very comforted by all the info you had available. Six months ago, I had never even heard of Reiki. I'm still in wonder of it, trying to figure it out, & loving every minute of it. There are so many questions - that will never end though, will it? Your newsletter has been very helpful, reassuring & informative. Susan: I find many things in your newsletter that touch my soul...your comments on the dark and embracing it was very calming for me...I have fears of the dark. Your thoughts on embracing the dark helped soothe some inner part of me...a good lesson to strive toward. About a year ago I started to have dreams of eyes, mostly in the palm of my hand...not at all scary...just there...only one eye never two...sometimes the eye would be alone in the dark....just there but mostly it would be in the palm of the hand. I searched on the internet and didn't really find what I needed...while meditating the word Namaste came to mind...I did not know what it meant...but I enough to know that I needed to trust myself and what came to me. I looked it up and was so amazed at how beautiful and calm the definition was...I started right then and there on my spiritual path....I mentioned to a co-worker my dreams of eyes and as it was supposed to happen she offered a spot in a Reiki class she was hosting in her home. Now I can actually feel the energy in the palms of my hands...I want to pursue other Reiki levels...and will when it is time. Life has so many paths to follow ....so many people come in and out of our lives with messages...teachings..love...this is how this newsletter came to me...Namaste. Comments? Suggestions? Complaints? They don't have to be about the newsletter, just about Reiki or other healing topics. Be heard! Send them in! teri@reikione.com Marion: I will be starting a Cincinnati Reiki Share Group open to all levels & lineages in February. I am interested in hearing other's experiences and any suggestions for format, ground rules or content of group. I will be charging a small fee to help pay for the use of the room. People can reply directly to mcmayer@iac.net or this newsletter. Have an experience you'd like to share or comments on an experience posted here? Email it to me: teri@reikione.com. That's it, 3 little lines, 5-7-5. teri@reikione.com. This column features a different question each week for your musing, opinion, and response. Comments received will be published in the next issue. Last week's question came from Cathy & John: Thanks very much for regularly sending your newsletter, both my wife and myself are enjoying it very much. I have a couple of experiences and a related question to ask. A few years ago a friend of us was at the deathbed of her mother. She was giving Reiki to her mother, who suddenly opened her eyes and told her daughter to quit doing that. She closed her eyes again and passed on a while later. Last March we had a phonecall from the local hospital that a friend of ours had a stroke again and it looked like it was close to the end. So we went over there and it looked indeed that it could not last much longer, his breathing was irregular and he was in a coma. Both my wife and myself gave him Reiki to help him leave this live. We left him like that, but when we came back next day he was awake and alert again. He is still with us in a full care home, but can not do very much anymore. He recognizes us but does not remember our names. We do not know what Reiki will do, but it decides what is the best course. However considering the experiences we have had , should one be careful about giving Reiki at a deathbed? Bonnie: In reference to the question: " Should one be careful about giving Reiki at a deathbed?" I feel that the question of "Are we helping the client release this world and move on, or are we keeping them beyond their time?" is a question rooted in this, the physical world. Reiki is rooted in the metaphysical world - a world of much higher vibration. If we are drawn to give Reiki, to whomever, wherever, then we need to honor that. We need not question why. We are the channels for Reiki, not the source. The Universal Source knows what is needed, and when, and where. Perhaps the Mother that asked her daughter to stop giving Reiki knew that she was balanced, in harmony, and ready to move on. She had accepted all of the Reiki that was right for her. The gentleman that was not ready to pass was simply not ready to pass. He was brought back into balance and harmony in order to complete his journey on the physical plane. His journey perhaps involves other people, and their lessons. For this he needs to remain earth bound for whatever time these lessons take. IMHO, in both instances the Reiki practitioners were following their intuition, and did the right thing. We want to live from our hearts, our intuitive centers, and not get caught up in the chaos of t he mind. KayC: had an experience with some good friends who had a baby, Their baby was born premature, and with brain problems, she was not expected to live at all. My belief has always been (as cruel as it sometimes) is that things happen for a reason, whether it is to make us stronger, or to help us change our ways etc.. so of course I wanted to help my friends in this heartfelt time. Every night I would do a 'distant' Reiki treatment on their daughter, and the actual feedback and feeling I received literally blew me away.(I was only new to Reiki at this time). I had explained to my friends what I would do for them, and they were only to happy for me to 'give it a go' (anything in the wake of hope!) I let them know of the feelings and thoughts I received through the treatments, and they were contented by this. By some freak of nature??, she survived for 22 days (even the Doctors were amazed), but this allowed my friends the time they needed to accept their daughter for all that she had been, and to put her little spirit to rest. By bringing someone back to life (so to speak) it is obviously not that persons time to go. There must be a reason (or lesson) that needs to be completed, maybe not for that person, but for the people that surround him - Life is a mystery, and we all learn new things every day! Next week's question comes from Kelly: I often send distance healing to people I don't know: people or situations I hear about, friends of friends, etc. I am aware that people don't always want to receive healing. I really don't want to send it where it is not wanted and I certainly don't want the karma that would result from doing that. Before I send healing, I usually mentally say to myself something like, "This healing is to be received by .... only if they wish to receive it. Take as much or as little as you want, pass it on to someone else who does want it or send it back", or words to that effect. Is this enough? On the other hand, as Reiki has its own intelligence, is this issue taken care of for us? I would like to hear other peoples thoughts on how they resolve this issue when distance healing and any other methods they use. If you miss answering a question from a past issue, please feel free to still send in your comments, just reference the question you're replying to. Please send your ideas/experiences/thoughts/pitfalls on starting and maintaining a Reiki practice to teri@reikione.com. Michelle: I have recently been sent a book by the author - Tapestry of Healing by Jeri Mills, Ob/Gyn, DVM. Dr. Mills has used Reiki extensively in her Ob/Gyn practice as well as in her former veterinary practice. Her web addy is: www.TapesteryOfHealing.com and her e-mail addy is: jeri@dakotacom.net . I have read the book and it's easy reading - Jeri tells of her own path toward energy healing and includes some good information about Reiki and the degrees, etc. And here is a link to the newspaper article that was done on Jeri - Read a good book or heard some good music, healing-wise? Write a review and I'll include it in the newsletter. Email your review to teri@reikione.com. Seka: I just got two new sites up this week called www.enlightenmentpath.com and www.communityzero.com Would you like your site featured here? Just send me the URL and a brief description - teri@reikione.com. Joke #1 "More than that," I laughed, "My instructor reeks of BO and has a bit of a wind problem. No way do I want a lesson from him again!" "I know the feeling," said the woman coolly. "I've been married to him for 20 years." "Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant, and make sure he is in a good mood. For lunch make him a nutritious meal he can take to work. And for dinner, prepare an especially nice meal for him. Don't burden him with chores, as this could further his stress. Don't discuss your problems with him, it will only make his stress worse. Try to relax your husband in the evening by wearing lingerie and giving him plenty of back rubs. Encourage him to watch some type of team sporting event on television. And most importantly, make love with your husband several times a week and satisfy his every whim." "If you can do this for the next 10 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health." On the way home, the husband asked his wife, "What did the doctor say?" "You're going to die." ~~Just for Fun~~~ (groaners, but i couldn't help myself :o)
Having survived my first driving lesson, I emerged from the car to come face to face with a woman standing on the pavement. "A bit nerve-wracking, was it?" she asked.
Joke #2
A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office. After his checkup, the doctor called the wife into his office alone. He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe disease, combined with horrible stress. If you don't do the following, your husband will surely die."
